The conventional aftermarket aero parts are mainly designed for “dress up” purpose and are inadequate as the performance parts for actual road racing or time attack.
J'S Racing collected the enormous amount of data for effective racing parts from our own participation in the Super Taikyu Series from 2003 to 2004 as well as from other race teams which used our aero parts. (In the class 4 on the Super Taikyu Series, we supplied
our aero parts to 4 teams.)

By constantly improving the existed version race by race based on the feedback from the actual racing data, we have perfected the aero parts with outstanding effectiveness.
Not only the Type S aero system possess the essential elements like superior downforce and cooling function, but also it adopts the current trend of utilizing the designs used for the actual race cars.

Type S 2.0 Front Wing

The front wing is updated by adopting the new style which is commonly used for F1 or GT cars to aggressively induce the airflow into the undercarriage. The new front wing achieves both the excellent looks and the outstanding downforce and it also boasts the strengthened structure.
The version 2.0 wing is interchangeable with the version 1.0 wing for the easy installment. It is available in both carbon and FRP. Please choose the carbon model if you like the beauty of the carbon fabric and choose the FRP if you would like to paint it to the color of the vehicle.

Function1 - Cooling

Critical factor - Water temperature

When the water temperature reaches a certain level, the ECU automatically adjusts the program to compensate, which causes a significant loss of power.
Due to the narrow inlet of the stock S2000 bumper, even a large aftermarket radiator cannot perform its function to the full extent. Consequently, J'S Racing recognized the importance of the bumper inlet design in order to maximize the airflow toward the radiator.
In order to make the full use of the available airflow and to achieve the maximum cooling efficiency, the clearance on the side and lower part are minimized and the shroud is redesigned. As a result, the air speed and volume going through the radiator are drastically improved.
The system reduces the radiator temperature by 10 degree C and successfully prevents the power loss by avoiding the ECU compensation.







Critical factor - Intake air temperature

It is a plain fact that a lower temperature of the intake air would lead to more engine power. A inlet hole for the air intake has been created on the front of the bumper to directly introduce a fresh air.
The best position of the inlet is front and closer to the round. By several trial and error, we found the optimal position for the large intake inlet which does not obstruct the airflow to the radiator. The result is a constant lower intake air emperature and increased power.

In order to maximize the effectiveness of the fresh air, two versions of carbon intake duct are created. One is for the stock air cleaner box and the other is for the J'S Racing tsuchinoko air intake. (this performance parts is also actively used for the Super Taikyu Series).

Critical factor - Brakes temperature

Due to a long nose structure, the both sides of the bumper take up a large area. A set of duct is absolutely essential to control the brake temperature (brake rotor and brake caliper). It is possible to reduce the brake temperature more than 50 C with a correctly positioned duct. However, a carelessly chosen duct position on the bumper deteriorates the airflow and consequently the increased drag could significantly reduce the top speed.
It took us trial and error to find out the most effective position of the brake ducts without increasing the air resistance too much. As an option, a dedicated FRP brake duct kit (left & right; diameter 70 mm) is available to directly manage the duct hose. (this performance parts is also actively used for the Super Taikyu Series).

Function2 - Aerodynamics grip

Best shape for the negative lift

Compared to the rear end with the wing, the front lacks the proper downforce.
Upon that point, J'S Racing drastically improved the front downforce by the following design changes.

1) We introduced the front wing style used for the GT race cars in order to increase the downforce from the bumper itself. The bumper is consisted of two separate parts – the upper bumper and the lower front wing..

2) The flat panel design is extended toward the radiator core support.

As an option, we provide a dedicated twin canard which increase the downforce further.
(Due to the race regulation, only single canard is allowed in the Super Taikyu Series.)

Tough Structure

An aero parts located close to the road surface has a possibility to contact against the curb or surface. Even if it should contact the road surface, the strengthened structure and well thought out installation method minimize the damage keeping the driver safe.
The clearance from the road of the Type S bumper is same as the one for the stockbumper. There is no need for a driver to be extra careful to protect the bumper on street driving.

Function3 - Choise of the material

Even though the performance functionality is the first objective, enough attention is paid to the visual impact on the street. The carbon parts are used partially to achieve both the sufficient strength and an excellent racing look.

The parts are basically made of FRP. Substantial research and resource was allocated to design this front bumper since it is the parts most likely to bear the impact.
The number of layers and the type of FRP fabric were considered carefully and extensively. Based on the lots of crash data from the actual racing, the strength is reinforced where it is needed, and lightness is emphasized where the extra strength is not called for.

Function4 - Total System

J'S Racing Type-S aero system is an expression of our consistent “Intension”. We strongly recommend a total coordination of all the available Type S parts if the budget permits. The system will provide an excellent match to Type V or Type S hood and 3D GT Wing. We wish the customer truly enjoy the excellent performance of our Type S system.
